In 1998, GMAC Home Services, a division of GM Corp., purchased Better Homes & Garden Real Estate, one of the nation's largest real estate franchises, from Meredith Corp.

Today, GMAC Home Services, under the direction of longtime industry veteran John Bearden, is well positioned to bring the gamut of home services to real estate brokers, sales associates and consumers. To accomplish this, GMAC Home Services calls on its own real estate, relocation and mortgage divisions, its relationship with parent company General Motors, as well as the strengths of sister companies such as GMAC Mortgage. As a result of these vast resources, GMAC Home Services can bring added services and cost savings to consumers and an industry that's long been promised, "one-stop shopping."

These services range from cost savings on automobiles for sales associates, to providing home buyers with the essential home services they want and need - such as mortgages - all from the GM family of companies.

GMAC Real Estate:
GMAC Real Estate has 1,300 franchised and company-owned real estate offices throughout the United States and Canada. The company has more than 20,000 sales associates who, in 2001, were responsible for more than $40 billion in sales volume and nearly 100,000 transaction sides.

GMAC Global Relocation Formed in 1998 when GMAC Home Services purchased Argonaut Services:

In just four years, GMAC Global Relocation Services, based in Warren, N.J., has quickly grown to become the world's third-largest global relocation and assignment management company. GMAC Global Relocation Services' clients include more than 14,000 transferring employees from some of the world's most recognized firms.

GHS Mortgage:
As part of GMAC Mortgage, the sixth-largest mortgage company in the United States, GHS Mortgage provides real estate franchisees with the opportunity to extend their services by offering home buyers a wide variety of mortgage products from one of the world's most respected lenders: GMAC Mortgage. In 2001, GHS Mortgage originated more than $3 billion in home loans.
